The history of the Kaunghmudaw Pagoda / Yaza Mani Sula Kaunghmudaw in the northwestern outskirts of Sagaing in central Myanmar (Burma), modeled after Ruwanwelisaya pagoda of Sri Lanka informs us that a Brahmin named Jibananda Thakur of Manipur laid the foundation stone of Kaudu Pagoda in the 16th century.
