Bhattaputra Govinda

Bhattaputra Govinda (Sanskrit: भट्टपुत्र गोविंद ,  Bengali: ভট্টপুত্র গোবিংদ  ) was a Brahmin (Brahmana) who lived around 941 CE in Muzaffarpur in North Bihar. His father's name was Bhattaputra Konda.

Bhattaputra Govinda belonged to the Parashara Gotra with the pravaras of Vashishtha, Shakti and Parasharya and was a student of the Madhyandina Shakha1  of the Vajasaneyi school of Yajur Veda2.

In 941 CE, Bhattaputra Govinda migrated3 from Muzaffarpur in North Bihar to a village in the Balangir area of Odisha. This is recorded in the 941 AD Kalibhana Copper Plate of Janamajeya Mahabhavagupta I (935 - 970), who belonged to the Somavamsa family which ruled over the area around Sambalpur region of Orissa.
