Mahesha Maitra

Mahesha Maitra / महेश मैत्र / মহেশ মৈত্র was a Brahmin scholar who lived around 1550 in Nabadvip area of Nadia district. He belonged to the Maitras family of Mandaljani of Kashyapa Gotra being Varendra Brahmins. His father was Kalyana Acharya

As per Brahminpedia calculations, Mahesha Agamvagisha was born in 1505 (est).

Mahesh  had 2 sons:
  1. Krishnananda Agamavagish who was a renowned Pandita and Sadhaka of Veda and Tantra traditions and the author of the Brihat Tantrasara, the most exhaustive worship and sadhana text of Eastern India for Veda and Tantra sadhakas being himself a mantra-siddha. 
  2. Sahasraksha who was a staunch Vaishnava and a worshipper of Lord Krishna. 

Mahesa Maitra was the 3rd among 4 brothers:
  • Madhava Maitra
  • Ananta Maitra
  • Keshava Maitra
