Kanchala

Kanchala (Sanskrit: काञ्चल , Bengali: কাঞ্চল ), was a Brahmin (Brahmana) who lived around 740 CE in Vanavasi region in Uttara Kanada district (North Kanara) of North Karnataka. His father's name was Govindali.

In 740 CE, Kanchala migrated1 from Uttara Kanada district in North Karnataka to Surat in Gujarat. This is recorded in the Navsari Plates of 740 AD of Avanijanashraya Pualkeshiraja2 who belonged to a line of viceroys who had close relation to the Chalukyas of Badami and ruled around the Surat region of Gujarat with capital in Navssari.
